YOUR Club/Patrol urgently NEEDS volunteer help at the Annual Ski Sale to be held at the Max Bell Centre Arena, Memorial Dr. and Barlow Trail, SE. There is easy access by road and LRT and abundant free parking.
This is YOUR club's major fund-raising project.

We require over 300 volunteers to work 1,000 shifts. This means working one or two shifts each to make the sale a success. We need some volunteers who are able to work extra, up to 2 or 3 shifts if they can.

CONSIGNMENT - Wednesday and Thursday
  Write consignment forms for public and shops.

RECLAIM/INVENTORY CONTROL - Sunday afternoon and evening
  Check actual unsold inventory against computer printouts for public and individual shops. Return gear to public and to shops.

APPRAISAL - Wednesday and Thursday TRAINING NEEDED
  Ensure that DH, XC, and SB equipment and clothing meets minimum standards and assist customers in selecting selling prices for their goods.

SALES - Friday to Sunday TRAINING NEEDED
  Assist the general public in selecting affordable equipment or clothing suitable for their skiing ability or needs from . Most of our shoppers are beginner skiers or boarders.

CASH and CHEQUE APPROVAL - Late Thursday Night and Friday to Sunday TRAINING NEEDED
  Operate cash tills, check prices on items, approve cheques and staff the admission ticket booth during the Volunteer Pre-Sale (Late Thursday) and during Public Sales (Friday to Sunday). We expect to sell a lot of equipment and clothing.

SECURITY - All Shifts
  a/ Consignment and Reclaiming: Traffic control of people and vehicles.
  b/ Sale periods: Control of public, preventing shoplifting and ensuring that all equipment and clothing leaving the building has been properly bought and paid for by checking itemized computer receipts.

MOVERS AND SHAKERS - All Shifts
  Do all the other necessary jobs: eg: clean-up, checking and moving of equipment and various odd jobs. May involve lifting. Should bring work gloves for all shifts.

PUBLIC RELATIONS - All Shifts
  Set up signs and displays. Interview public for a questionnaire during Consignment and Sale periods.

COMPUTERS - All Shifts   Training needed?
           a/ NONE, b/ Very Minimal!-Can you move your computer?, c/Lots and lots!
  a/ Data entry of 7,500+ items consigned to our sale. Accuracy is important.
  b/ Setup of Computer Systems. Minimal computer skills.
  c/ System operation of our 15 PC network. Knowledge and experience is essential.

MOVE IN/MOVE OUT - Mostly Wednesday and Sunday. Some help on Monday or Tuesday before sale.
  Transport our equipment from storage to Max Bell and return. Set up Floor area with fencing, tables and chairs for Consignment, Sales and Reclaiming as required.

Bring a pen and Swiss army knife. Wear casual clothes and comfortable running shoes or boots. Work gloves are essential for handling equipment on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights and perhaps at other times.
