How big is the Annual New & Used Ski Sale?

This annual tradition (in Calgary since 1963) is the largest all-volunteer event of its kind in Canada.

This event does in 5 days the equivalent to the sales of a small ski shop during 5 months of winter. We expect an inventory of up to 9,000 items valued at $1 million. This arrives on 2 evenings – Wednesday & Thursday. We normally sell half the items consigned valued almost $600,000 during the 3 days of the Sale – Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday. Since leaving Stampede Park and the Ski Show, sales have climbed from $200,000 to $600,000. We expect over 4,000 customers during the Ski Sale.

We have to return all unsold gear on Sunday evening to all consignors – both shops and public. We must be off the ice surface by 10 pm ready for the Max Bell crew to get ready for hockey at 6 am Monday. All other equipment, supplies and donations to charity must be removed from Max Bell by 12 Noon Monday.
