Snowshoes

  Showshoeing is a growing sport.
The Ski Sale wishes to encourge this winter on-snow activity.
All goods will be appraised as is usual.

While we offer a bargain sale,
we want our customers to be able to use the equipment immediately
after a safety inspection & adjustment for bindings without
major repairs being required before use.

There are 4 principal types of snowshoes.
All may be accepted if they are in good shape.

Reject snowshoes if:

   Wood frame & cat-gut:
  • Wood frame is damaged
  • There are any breaks/cracks in frame
  • The wood is not well varnished
  • The cat-gut is not tight and well varnished
   Wood frame with neoprene deck:
  • There is any damage
  • The wood is not well varnished
  • Lacing to the frame is cut or gouged
  • The harness is not in good shape
   Aluminum frame with neoprene deck:
  • There are deep scratches - they could lead to frame failure
  • Deck is not in good shape
  • There is unreasonable play in binding
  • Lacing on the frame is cut or gouged
  • Pivot for boot is loose
   Plastic frame and deck:
  • There are any cracks
  • Bindings are not in good shape

For all types of Snowshoe, it is important that:
All buckles, straps, ratchets must be in good shape and firmly attached.
All cleats or other traction aids should be intact with no cracks and with no missing teeth.
